BMS World Mission appoints new

Co-Directors of Communications and Funding

You did read that right! BMS World Mission is thrilled to announce that we have appointed two outstanding candidates, Sarah Anthony and Ben Drabble, to an innovative partnership, fulfilling the key role of Director of Communications and Funding.

After a process that sought, and received, applications from an encouragingly wide and diverse range of candidates, BMS has chosen to appoint two highly talented colleagues to job share the role as Co-Directors of Communications and Funding.

Sarah Anthony and Ben Drabble approached the appointment group with a radical proposal, aimed at providing a creative and insightful way to take BMS forward in this important area.

Ben has extensive experience within BMS, having served for 11 years, firstly in roles that led to becoming the Short-Term Programme Co-ordinator with responsibility for Action Teams and short-term mission in the Department for World Mission, and more recently in the Communications Department as Funding Team Leader.

Sarah brings highly developed strategic and leadership skills, from outside BMS as well as more recently in her role as Publications and Project Organiser, in which she has led the production of the team’s excellent resource portfolio, as well as serving on the group developing the new BMS strategy, which launches in 2021.

Commenting on the appointment, BMS General Director Dr Kang-San Tan said: “Both Sarah and Ben have a proven ability to work well at a strategic level, as well as across departmental boundaries and with mission personnel and partners. These highly talented colleagues are both consummate learners, which in the current and future global context will be an attribute of the highest value. Their shared natural collegiality makes them effective colleagues, across the whole of BMS, and they model the highest standards of professionalism and service.”

Adding his thoughts, BMS Chair of Trustees Rev Marc Owen said: “Sarah and Ben brought an innovative and insightful proposal to us. Their desire to pool their skills, expertise and gifting, whilst continuing with their family responsibilities, gives us a wonderfully flexible and effective way of developing the role of Director of Communications and Funding. I’m so excited about the future for BMS, and I’m certain that Sarah and Ben will quickly become key contributors to that future.”

Sarah and Ben take up their new roles on 14 September 2020.
