Worst moment: “eating intestines!”

Last week we said goodbye to the Action Team who were living in our house for the past 6 months and have gone back to the UK to start their tour of Churches. We wanted you to know a bit about them, what they did while they were here and what their next step is. So in this post we introduce Iain to you…..

Action Team Profile 1

Who are you? Iain

Where are you from? Drumnadrochit, beside Loch Ness in the North of Scotland.

What will you be doing when you finish your Action Team tour? Study Naval Architecture at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

Why did you decide to go on an Action Team? I really wanted to take a year out after High School to do something a bit different before university. My sister did an Action Team two years ago and when she and her team came to my Church on tour, the work they were doing and the adventures they had sounded amazing. So I applied and was fortunate enough to get a place on the Mozambican team.

Best moment: Although playing with baby lions and seeing the Victoria Falls have been very special moments, I think that the best part of this time in Mozambique has been all the friendships we have made and the laughs we have had at our projects, with people in town, or just playing football on the streets!

Worst moment: Eating intestines at a school graduation was a low moment and the struggle with Portuguese has been quite tough as well.

Funniest moment: Rhiannon getting locked out of the car on the side of the road in the heaviest rainstorm I have ever seen.

What has God been saying to you through this time? Psalm 91:7 – This is our Portuguese teacher’s favourite verse. I think it speaks volumes about the dedication, commitment and trust that so many here have in God. This has been really humbling but encouraging to witness and experience.

Psalm 91:7 “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.”
