Annet Ttendo-Miller, BMS Gender Justice Co-ordinator, is closing 16 Days of Activism in prayer for answers to our lingering questions.
Victims and survivors of gender-based violence, their families and their friends will ask those same questions of ‘Why?’ and ‘What?’ As we head into the Christmas season, would we remember to keep praying for their questions to be answered and healing to be given.
Made in the image of our Creator God, all human beings are worthy of respect and dignity. Yet gender-based violence strips that away, leaving women physically and psychologically scarred.
Nancy Garcia Chavez, President of the National Baptist Women’s Union (Unión Nacional Feminil) of the Peruvian Baptist Convention, is lifting up these women in prayer today. We’re joining with her to ask God to have compassion on them and strengthen their hearts. Will you pray with us?
“Call unto me and I will answer you…”
Inspired by Jeremiah 33: 3, Martin Sabiiti Rwabihurwa (who works with BMS partner Justice Livelihoods Health in Uganda) is calling out to God on behalf of women and girls who have suffered from gender-based violence (GBV).
As part of 16 Days of Activism, we’re inviting you to join Martin in praying for societal norms around GBV to be challenged and for these practices to stop.
Today, we’re joining with Haniele Laurindo in prayer for women in need of protection and support networks.
Haniele sees this need for every day but she also sees the fruit of prayer. As a BMS partner worker in a refugee camp on Lesbos, she is part of a team providing support to women who have nothing left. Please pray with us today and lift up Haniele, her team and all those supporting women.
In times of conflict and war, gender-based violence can fly too easily below the radar. Today, Shireen Awwad Hilal, from BMS’ partner, Bethlehem Bible College, encourages us to uphold the women caught up in the Israel-Hamas conflict happening right now.
Join with us and Shireen as we pray for these women, acknowledging the role they play in creating peace.
Gender-based violence doesn’t start at the point of violence being carried out. It starts in our hearts, when we choose violence, anger and pride over patience, forgiveness and self-control.
Today, we’re joining with Tendo Neema to pray for a spirit of patience and a change of heart. For it only when we love our neighbours as we love ourselves that we will be able to eradicate violence.
Join Abel Mutyaba in opening this period of prayer with a plea for God to listen to cries for protection, guidance and love.
