Pastors Training Week 3

In my new role as Director I had the privilege to be part of another training week in June, at the Nauta Integral Mission Training Centre. The centre exists to provide formational training, for Pastors and Leaders in the city of Iquitos, in Nauta, as well as for those who live in the more rural areas, only reached by boat. On the Monday afternoon we welcomed our nine students, some along with their children.

Holistic Ministry Formation

Justo Rubiños Morante was our main speaker for the week. A Baptist Pastor with a ministry in the Amazonias, he is one of our regular teachers well known to many of the staff there. He arrived again with his great humor, coupled with a depth of cultural awareness, whilst ministering on the subjects of Leadership and Christian Doctrine. Other classes during the week included Basic Higiene, Expository Preaching, Administration in Ministry and  First Aid.

 A typical day?

Well it started with a 6am breakfast followed by devotions at 7. Classes normally start afterwards at 8am, with regular breaks up to lunchtime. During the informal times, I had ample time to talk and listen to some of the stories of folk, as they shared moments of their life and ministry. Very precious!

After a mornings work, a full stomach and the sun at its hottest, there was now time for a well earned afternoon rest. Afterwards, each day we all would assemble for a Football or Volleyball game.  Evening meal at 6pm,  the sessions were concluded for the day at 7pm with a time of worship, reflection or some student presentations!

Looking forward

As a team we would appreciate your prayers, as we are currently finalising our plans for the our next training week in August.

1.       Former students will have the opportunity to attend again.

2.       More local Pastors will be able to attend, as many have had no formal training.

3.       We would have more opportunities to work alongside our group of teachers, especially in helping them prepare and delivery their own material.

4.       Please also pray for me as I continue to learn language, and begin to flourish in the new role of Director of here at the centre.
