How can we apply?

Applying for 2011Your minister or church leader needs to complete an application form on behalf of the church. You can download the application form from this web page.

 

Closing date for applications: Friday 10 September 2010. Applications after this may be considered, subject to availability, and further teams may be organised throughout the year – please phone us for the latest news/opportunities.

 

Once selected, the church has responsibility for selecting your team and plays a part in organising some of the trip. Selecting the right team is important - the attitude and characteristics of team members, as well as their skills, will have a direct impact on the success and effectiveness of the mission trip. We therefore ask each accepted church to establish a clear selection procedure. BMS guidelines include applications, references and interviews. Information about our recommended selection procedure will be given at the Church Team leaders day on 5 November 2010.

Team leadership

The team leader (and assistant leader) plays a key role throughout the Church Team programme. They will have practical, pastoral and logistical matters to oversee and need to be well-organised, capable, respected, and active within the church. They should also have the unreserved backing and recommendation of the church leadership.

 

Team leaders will be issued with a pack which defines their role more clearly, and must attend the leaders briefing and preparation day, on Friday 5 November 2010.
