You will probably need to be involved in fundraising to cover the cost of your placement.  If this seems like a daunting task, don't be put off.  We have seen God provide in amazing ways.  If you would like a BMS sponsorship form for any events you might be organising then click here.

The cost of your placement depends on where you are going and the length of time.  A detailed budget will be given once a placement has been arranged.  You will need to allow for vaccinations, visas, insurance, flights, Interhealth clearance (£28 incl VAT) and living costs including accommodation.  BMS provides training and all administration of the programme free of charge.

What will BMS do?

  • Provide clear and accurate information throughout the selection procedure and support you through the process.
  • Provide a letter of acceptance and the Volunteer Information Pack.
  • Arrange a suitable placement for you with one of our partners overseas.
  • Organise flights, insurance and give advice on visas.
  • Ensure overseas accommodation and some orientation is arranged by the overseas host.
  • Give guidance on living costs to allow you to budget.
  • Provide a week of appropriate training before your departure.
  • Provide overall pastoral support.
  • Format and distribute prayer letters whilst you are overseas.
  • Debrief you on your return.
  • Provide opportunities to stay involved.

What will you need to do?

  • Raise sufficient funds to cover the cost of your placement.
  • Comply with BMS medical procedures, CRB checks and insurance.
  • Attend training
  • Provide a written report on your placement and attend a debriefing session.

Do I have to be Baptist?

While the majority of people who work with BMS are from Baptist Churches, this is not a requirement.  We welcome applications from people of all Christian denominations with a genuine, living and active faith.
