BMS World Mission

Eyewitness to Copenhagen

BMS World Mission has already written to Prime Minister Gordon Brown, encouraging him to do the right thing at the upcoming Copenhagen climate talks, adding the voices of Christians around the world to that of British Baptists.

Brendan Bowles, Director of BMS partner organisation, Climate Stewards, will be reporting from Copenhagen during the climate talks and has this to say about them:

“This December all the world’s governments will meet for 12 days in Copenhagen to decide how they are going to tackle climate change. It will be very tense. There will be many public disagreements and lots of secret negotiations. The decisions made in Copenhagen will affect us all for decades to come.

“The Bible tells us to pray for our governments and those in authority. So I am going to Copenhagen to find out each day what the key issues are, and to keep people informed around the world how they can pray. I will be publishing the prayer updates on http://twitter.com/climateprayer, broadcasting daily on United Christian Broadcasting.”
