BMS World Mission

Katie & Reuben Martin

Martin, Katie & Reuben (France)

Before studying at Spurgeon’s College, Reuben worked as a policeman and Katie as a geography teacher. In January 1999 they began work with BMS in Croatia, assisting the Baptist Union there.

From November 2000 until July 2005 they lived in the city of Dubrovnik where, together with a Croatian ministerial couple, they planted a Baptist church. During this period the Croatian Baptist Union grew and developed and today there is less of a need for expat mission personnel in the country.

Reuben and Katie felt God was leading them to leave Croatia and moving them on to service in a different country: France. Therefore, in December 2005, Katie and Reuben moved to Massy, near Paris, for language preparation. In summer 2007 they moved to Rouen to begin church planting work in an area they believe will be a tough challenge.

Reuben has an interest in sport – football, cricket, golf – while Katie is interested in music, particularly the piano.

Katie and Reuben are members of Leigh Road Baptist Church, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.
