Transforming lives on four continents

Lawyers' Team

Seek justice, encourage the oppressed (Isaiah 1: 17)

BMS World Mission, in partnership with the UK-based Lawyers' Christian Fellowship (LCF), is looking for law students and young lawyers with a passion for justice to broaden their practical understanding of God's heart for mission through advocacy. Team members will gain experience by assisting and working alongside projects in Africa that aim to advise, advocate and provide justice for everyone, regardless of age, background or status.

Dates: 5 weeks from mid-June 2012
Cost: Approx £2,000 per person
Team size: 8-10 people

In 2011, the BMS LCF team visited and served at legal projects in Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya. We anticipate a similar programme for 2012. The programme will be full-on and not for the faint-hearted. The Lawyers' Justice Team programme involves significant amounts of travelling but promises to be challenging, inspiring and rewarding.

“The six weeks in Africa were a life-changing experience. I have been challenged in so many ways that I will not be able to continue living as I did before… my life, my attitudes and my priorities have been substantially shaken up. Go!”
Suzanne

As well as your time spent overseas there will be a packed day of relevant mission preparation to help you and your team, on 8-9 June 2012. The event takes place at our International Mission Centre (IMC) in Birmingham and all team members must be able to attend. There will also be a time of debrief after your return, which is an opportunity for you and your team to consider what you've just done and its impact on you. There will also be an LCF preparation day held in spring 2012.

If you are interested in serving on the Lawyers' Summer Justice Team, you'll need to apply through the Lawyers' Christian Fellowship (LCF). For further information on how to apply please see the LCF website
