Tailor-made placements for you

Career break… post-university gap year… retirees… change of career… looking for a new challenge… whatever your circumstances, we'll find the right placement for you. There is no 'typical' volunteer, no 'average' placement and no fixed schedule that you have to fit into.

Apply for and start your placement at any time in the year.  Go to countries across Asia, Africa, Europe and South America to work alongside BMS partners or personnel. Spend from a couple of months to two years serving God. Qualified or not, have a placement tailor-made to use your skills to the full.

You will need to meet the exact cost of the placement – there are no hidden charges. And BMS provides the set-up and administration, residential preparation in UK, pastoral support overseas and debriefing all free of charge.

Who can BMS use?

BMS is looking for committed Christians with a desire to serve God and to share their faith in words and actions. You will need a willingness to be flexible and be servant-hearted.

All ages – from those starting their career to those who have retired, we accept volunteers at every stage of life.

All circumstances – singles, couples, families – you can be involved in mission.

All skills and experiences - not just teachers and medics but carpenters, administrators, engineers, project managers, agriculturalists to name but a few. No matter what your skill or profession we will try to find the right place for you to use that to the full. You’ll find some of the opportunities we have by clicking here, but our partners are always asking for people so don’t be put off if you don’t see something that seems to fit you.

How much?

You need to budget for flights, visa, insurance, accommodation, living expenses, vaccinations and personal expenses. BMS charges an administration fee of £50 which includes medical clearance, selection, debriefing and training.  We will help you by letting you know how much money you will need to raise.

Training

If selected you will be invited to attend a week of cross-cultural training at IMC, our centre in Birmingham. These are held in March/April, July and November.
