Transforming lives on four continents

Going for longer

Long-term service with BMS

Paulo lived amidst mud and rats in a shanty town in Brazil but when Stuart Christine shared the gospel with him his life turned around. He and his family are now Christians and have work and live in a little new house. This happened because Georgie and Stuart Christine have lived and worked alongside the people of São Paulo. They have taken time to learn Portuguese and to understand what makes people like Paulo tick.

Fatima knew there was something wrong with the baby growing in her womb. Thankfully midwife Carol was on hand to help at the small rural hospital in Afghanistan only a few miles from where she lived.

Samson had languished in jail on remand for six years in Uganda until BMS mission personnel, working with the local partner, came and helped him negotiate the legal system and bring his trial forward. He was acquitted of the accusations made against him and is now back with his wife and family.

These are three examples of how long-term workers with BMS World Mission are impacting lives around the world.

BMS has individuals, couples and families who serve from two years to a lifetime in over 20 different countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.

All of them are committed to serving God in some of the most needy parts of the world. They take time to learn the language and adjust to the culture.

They have the common desire to make Jesus known so that people throughout the world might experience the abundant life only Jesus can bring.

If you want to make a real difference, to build relationships in a meaningful way and to give a significant amount of time to something worthwhile – then going overseas for a longer period of time could be the right option for you.
