In the latest issues of Core and Fuse, the children and young people of your church will have been learning about broadcasting the good news of Jesus Christ. BMS partners with an organisation called SAT-7 - it's a Christian satellite broadcasting network made for, and by, the people of the Middle East and North Africa. SAT-7 and SAT-7 KIDS broadcasts Christ's message of hope to the Middle East and beyond.
So, our challenge to you is to turn your church into a TV station, just like SAT-7, for a BMS fundraising day! Why not get everyone at your church involved? You could organise a game-show, soap opera, documentary about church life, cookery show, the news, a chat-show interviewing church leaders or members of your congregation - the possibilities are endless!
Think of a name for your TV station, create sets, write scripts, rehearse and perform the shows live in front of your congregation and get people to pay to come and watch them. Alternatively, you could film the programmes and show the filming to an audience who pay an entry fee, or even sell DVDs of your various shows.
Why not sell popcorn and refreshments if people come to watch the shows or set up a stall with t-shirts, mugs and other merchandise with your TV station's name on it. Think of as many creative ideas as you can that could raise money for BMS projects that take the good news of Jesus Christ to some of the world's poorest people.
EXCITING NEWS! Tell us what you plan to do in less than 500 words at your fundraising TV station event and we will choose our favourite idea and send a BMS film crew down to record your event.
This will then be professionally edited to look like a real TV programme, made into a DVD for your church to keep and put onto our brand new website for people all over the world to see, helping to inspire others to raise money for BMS.
E-mail your TV station fundraising ideas to thebiggerproject@bmsworldmission.org or post them to THE BIGGER PROJECT, BMS World Mission (Communications department), PO Box 49, Didcot, OX11 8XA.
