Transforming lives on four continents

Education

Education is crucial to the development of individuals, communities and nations. That one generation shall tell another is an ancient principle (eg Deut 11: 19).

Education shapes lives. Knowledge provides opportunity and opportunity is what so many need.

PEPE, the education programme for pre-schoolers was begun by BMS workers in 1992 in Brazil with just 12 children. Now it has spread to six other Latin American countries and five countries in Africa. In Angola, BMS teacher and PEPE co-ordinator Lynne Brown records there are now 930 children enrolled in the PEPE programme.

BMS works in partnership with many Baptist Unions around the world, providing teachers and facilitating the training of teachers. In Nepal, Albania, Bangladesh and Uganda, BMS teachers are enabling others by providing a quality education. BMS’ return to working in China will take the form of teaching English.

BMS is involved in theological education in places like Brazil and Lebanon.
