BMS World Mission

Cynthia & Ian Chadwell

Chadwell, Cynthia & Ian (Nepal)

Cynthia and Ian come from Bristol and have been married since 1996. They have two children, Justin and Lucy, and are members of Counterslip Baptist Church, Bristol. They met when they both went to work in Nepal with different mission organisations in the early 1990s. Cynthia is originally from the USA. Her family now lives in northern Indiana. Ian was a manager in the NHS, having worked in Bristol, Swindon and briefly for the Department of Health. Cynthia trained as a primary school teacher but worked in nursery school after coming to Britain to live.

They returned to Nepal where they work with one of BMS’ newer partners, an organisation called Human Development and Community Services (HDCS). Ian works as a management advisor to the health programme which now runs five former mission hospitals in Nepal. Cynthia is doing volunteer work in an education centre.

They are both keen walkers and hope to trek in the Himalayan foothills for work and pleasure

during their time in Nepal. They both like to listen to and make music. Both enjoy singing and Cynthia plays clarinet. Cynthia enjoys cooking and reading novels. Ian enjoys eating and, as a listener to Radio 4, is also sad enough to admit to being an ‘Archers’ fan.
