Is Christianity under attack in contemporary Britain? Is there a place for public expressions of faith in a society that is becoming increasingly secular? Do issues like homosexuality and religious jewellery or clothing bring some religions into conflict with fundamental human rights?

This video interview, produced for the 2010 Baptist Assembly in Plymouth, addresses some of these questions while examining the overall issue of our faith’s place in a changing society.
In it, BMS World Mission General Director, David Kerrigan, talks to Shami Chakrabarti, Director of Liberty (The National Council for Civil Liberties). The discussion highlights many philosophical differences and potential causes for concern, but also reveals more points of commonality between the Human Rights perspective and that of Evangelical Christianity than some newspapers would have us believe.
