The appropriate authorities in Afghanistan have now completed their investigations into Fay’s death and have concluded that her death was due to natural causes. They have therefore released Fay’s body, which was returned to the UK last night.
The relevant UK authorities will now undertake their own normal procedures following the death of a British citizen overseas.
Fay’s parents, Chris and Julie, have now arranged a Thanksgiving Service for Fay’s life at Above Bar Church in Southampton at 2.30pm on Saturday 6 February.

It is with deep sadness that BMS World Mission confirms the death of one of our workers in Afghanistan.
Fay Martin, 24 and from Surrey, was found dead on Sunday 17 January in a partner agency property in Kabul, having returned to Afghanistan for her second period of service that day. At this stage, we believe no third party was involved in Fay's death.
However, the appropriate authorities in Afghanistan are aware of Fay's death, are carrying out normal investigations and will advise us in due course.
Fay was involved in assessing agricultural needs in the north-west of the country, as part of the development work of a BMS partner agency. She had served with BMS in Afghanistan since October 2008 and had returned to Kabul on Sunday after a short, planned period of leave in the UK.
BMS General Director David Kerrigan paid tribute to Fay saying: 'She was a hugely talented young woman, whose total commitment to improving the quality of life for some of the poorest people in Afghanistan was inspirational. Our thoughts and prayers are with Fay's family, friends and colleagues at this time.'
