BMS World Mission would like to encourage you to ‘rise up’ with thousands of others in a week of prayer and demonstrations against injustice and environmental degradation. The G20 group of the most economically powerful nations will meet in London on 2 April.
Micah Challenge is a Christian coalition (for social, economic and environmental justice), of which BMS is a partner organisation. It is encouraging Christians to pray, send messages and join marches and church services to make one message clear: “the future cannot be business as usual.
Micah Challenge is asking Christians to do three things:
1 Rise Up every day: From 28 March to 3 April, Micah Challenge has provided prayer points, Bible verses and information for each day through which you can read, meditate and pray. Click here to download a printable form.
2 Get your church to Rise Up: On 29 March, churches around the globe will rise in prayer together for a global economy that puts people and the environment before profits. Organise a service or prayer time in solidarity with the fight against poverty and climate chaos cause by an unsustainable system.
3 Rise Up with friends on 2 April: On the morning of the G20 summit, organise an early-morning prayer time with friends (
using the prayer sheet available here) for global justice.
Micah Challenge is also encouraging Christians to take part in a march for Jobs, Justice and Climate on 28 March in London.
The march is going to be massive and will also include a church service, featuring:
• Joel Edwards, International Director of Micah Challenge and former head of the Evangelical Alliance
• Father Joe Komakoma, Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference, Zambia
• Richard Chartres, Bishop of London
• Christine Allen, Executive Director of Catholic development and justice charity, Progressio
