Katrina Butterworth tells of an answer to prayer (see the prayer request below):
Some time ago I asked for your prayers for a Christian woman who was imprisoned having been wrongly accused of murdering a young woman (who had actually committed suicide). The family of the young woman later admitted that they had accused her because they felt so helpless and angry at what had happened.
The good news is that after, four months, this lady was released from prison just last week. She had a wonderful ministry within the prison, sharing her faith with the other prisoners and building up a Christian fellowship within the jail – but it was more than time for her to be reunited with her own family. Thank you for all your prayers for her release.
Thank God for this good news and pray for the prisoners who heard about Jesus to continue in their faith.
Pray for justice for a jailed believer in Nepal (09/09/2009)
Katrina Butterworth, a BMS worker in Nepal, requests prayer for a believer in Kathmandu who is currently in jail having been charged with murder. Katrina takes up the story.
Around one year ago a young couple had an argument and the wife left her husband to go back to her parents house. Her parents were not happy to see her and sent her back to her husband, who is a believer. That night the girl committed suicide.
A proper investigation was done at the time with an autopsy and everyone agreed it was suicide. One year later, the parents of the girl went to an organisation for women's rights and accused the girl's husband and the local pastor's wife of murdering their daughter.
The two were promptly thrown in prison, awaiting a formal investigation and trial. That was three months ago.
The pastor's wife is a dynamic woman, who has used her time in prison to share with those around her, including a woman
who left a bomb in a Catholic church several months ago, killing several people. She is leading a prison fellowship of 60 women now!
The girl's family have since admitted that they were just angry and that they did not really think either the husband or the pastor's wife had harmed their daughter.

However, the two are still in jail. The wheels of justice are slow and rusty in Nepal. The major Hindu festival of Dashain is coming up and it looks like it will be several months still before they are released.
Please pray that they will be released before the festival starts, and that they will know God's presence and encouragement in their situation.
