Since 2003 David has had a retirement pastorate at Ashdon Baptist Church in Essex. Before that he was minister of Eltham Park Baptist Church in London for 16 years. He and his wife Doris became mission workers with BMS in 1963 and served in Brazil for 24 years until 1987. They were involved in church planting, theological education and mission administration. David served as BMS Regional Representative for Brazil and the Caribbean from 1981 to 1986.
Returning to the UK in 1987, he served on the former General Committee from 1989 to 2005. He was appointed to the Board of Management on its formation in 1993 and served for six years. From 2005 to 2006 he was President of BMS World Mission. In this capacity he travelled with Doris to Italy, Bulgaria and Croatia to see BMS mission workers in their placement context. He has served on the Board of Trustees for the last three years.
David's hobbies are sport, mainly watching these days, especially Irish rugby successes(!) and walking. He and Doris enjoy walking in the countryside and maintaining a nice garden.
His desire is to encourage others to share his passion and engage with the world in the name of Christ.
