From Crofton Park, London, John and Maria were appointed in 1977. They have served with BMS World Mission in church planting and theological education ministries at a number of locations across Brazil including the states of Rondonia, Paraná and Santa Catarina.
After completing a doctorate in the area of lay ministerial training they relocated to the city of Natal in the Rio Grande do Norte state where John has been largely responsible for establishing the Baptist theological faculty and is director of lay and ministerial theological education.
Maria who has undertaken qualifying studies in accountancy, has developed the administrative side of the faculty and also serves as the BMS Brazil administrator.
In October 2007, their son John Marcos began university at Manchester.
