We’ve been asked if BMS World Mission will be sending a relief grant in response to the China earthquake.

David McLellan, BMS Manager for Mission Partnerships says, “We are monitoring the situation for opportunities to help in the aftermath of this devastating earthquake.

“The Chinese authorities are now open to receiving international relief aid and we are in contact with partners who are negotiating deliveries of relevant supplies and equipment.

“Pray for those who are involved in search and rescue work, as well as the many victims suffering trauma or loss”.

An estimated 60,000 people remain missing after the massive earthquake in China's Sichuan province on Monday, which killed almost 15,000 and left whole villages in ruins.

Rescuers continue to pull hundreds of men, women and children from the rubble in towns such as Yingxiu, where only a fifth of the population has been found alive. Aid efforts are being hampered by awful weather conditions.
